A Few Thoughts on Motherhood by Sister Gillett, Mother of Nine

A Few Thoughts on Motherhood by Sister Gillett, Mother of Nine

Boyd K. Packer said the Church offers many gospel-centered activities that are good. However, fine restaurants offer a huge menu of fabulous dishes. But we wouldn’t go into a restaurant and order everything. We would choose what we could handle eating. It is the same with gospel activities. We have to be wise and choose carefully only the activities our families can handle. Overeating even wonderful food hurts.

We tried to let our children make their own choices. Once when a son was invited to go to an amusement park on Sunday we let him choose. Same with basketball practice. It can be difficult to wait for them to come to the right decision on their own or watch a wrong choice, but we have to teach them correct principles and let them govern themselves. Most of the time they chose the right. However, even we they didn’t it was a good learning experience that helped them make future choices with the guidance of true principles.

Do something everyday that you don’t have to turn around and do tomorrow. Even if it is something small.
